Dear friends and neighbors of the Civic, 

 

In our last newsletter, we shared that we were actively searching for a new home to house our headquarters. Since then, we’ve found a building across the street that not only meets our needs, but allows us the space to dream far beyond them. We will complete the purchase in September, and that’s when the real fun starts. In true Civic fashion, we need your help to bring this new space to life.

 

This milestone comes after countless conversations with all kinds of neighbors and local experts, from appraisers, to river scientists, to the kids who regularly stop by for popsicles. Every thoughtful idea shared over coffee or a community supper helped inform our decision to move. 

 

In this new building, we imagine family-style meals at long dining tables, more accessible live music performances, an upstairs café run by local teenagers after school, a year-round costume library, ample studio space for the creation of new shows, and on goes the list of dreams. To achieve all this, we need to make the space into a home: paint the walls, caravan our belongings from one side of the street to the other, and complete minor repairs that will enhance everyone’s experience.

 

With your support we can fully realize our goal of blossoming into this new home, creating bolder and more expansive programming for years to come, and continuing to serve the citizens of Hardwick and our neighboring communities.

 

We’ll need to cover the costs that come with an epic move like this one, whether hardware supplies or monthly payments toward our Vermont Community Loan Fund mortgage. To do this, we created the “New Home Fund.” Over the last few months we’ve been working toward our goal of raising $400,000 and thanks to some very early and generous supporters, we’re more than half way there!
