Hardwick State

Attention everyone who knows anything about something or who wants to know something about anything! For one weekend, Hardwick is transformed into a giant town-wide university campus where everybody is a teacher and everybody is a student! Classes are free or pay what you decide, and you can study anything— from how to change a tire to philosophy, chainsaw repair to crocheting, improv comedy to stories of a general store.

Everyone is an expert in something, so all community members from the greater Hardwick area are invited to consider what expertise they might be willing to share with their neighbors. We welcome your ideas and contributions, which can include slideshow and lecture topics, workshops, hands-on demos, academic discussions, film screenings, and whatever else your creative minds come up with.

Our first Hardwick State weekend was held in April of 2025, and due to the popularity of the event, we will be opening the school again this April.
