UKULELE GROUP every first & third Wednesday at 7pm, following supper. We will learn how to become better and more fluent players, and build a repertoire of songs together. Attendance is on a drop-in basis, though ongoing commitment is encouraged. Donations welcome to support the Civic. Open to all levels of players, ages teen and up. The group will be led by Don Houghton & Ned Houston, retired folk music enthusiasts from Craftsbury, who have played throughout the NEK for many years.


OLD-TIME JUNKET Due to popular demand, we are now gathering TWICE A MONTH, on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 7 pm. With a vision to revive community fiddling and a regional old-time music repertoire, all are welcome to join us at our free old-time jam session at the Civic! All players of string band-style instruments - fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass, and mandolin - are encouraged to attend. All levels of proficiency are welcome. Snacks and beverages will be provided, and listeners are welcome


TRIVIA UPDATE: Though Trivia is usually on the last Thursday of each month at the Village Restaurant-- this time it's on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28th at the LEGION, alongside our weekly community supper, from 6-8pm. This month's leap year themed game will be hosted by Butch and Kent!


FUTUREMAKERS! Where are you going? How are you getting there? Come to Futuremakers, where we explore possibilities beyond and after high school. Join a small group of peers asking the same question: What’s next? College? A career? Both? Neither? Let’s figure it out together. 4:30-6:30 Mondays. THE HARDWICK SKATEPARK COLLECTIVE meets every Wednesday at 3:30pm here at the Civic. Stop by to find out about this youth-led project, and get involved!


DRAGON PUPPET WORKSHOP Local high schooler, Haley, will be leading this workshop for kids ages 8 & up. Stop by Wednesdays after school at 3:15 for snacks and instruction on making your own articulated paper hand puppet! This workshop is free, RSVPs appreciated:


FREE COMMUNITY SUPPER Every Wednesday evening at 5:30pm, all are welcome for a free community supper in the living room on Main Street.


HAIKU CLUB All are welcome the first Thursday of each month from 5:30- 7pm at the Civic. We will read some published haiku and review suggested guidelines for writing haiku. Feel free to bring a piece you are currently working on to share with the group. Hardwick Haiku strives to be a supportive and fun environment, and no previous experience is necessary. This event is hosted by Mark Scott in collaboration with the Civic Standard.


Following the Legion's traditional St Patty's Day meal, the Civic Standard will host an all-ages community dance. The concert features The Yanks in the Attic, a family band made up of the Floods from Woodbury. They have been making music with friends for over a decade, playing Irish jigs and reels, pub songs, and old favorites on banjos, guitars, fiddles, tin whistles and mandolins. Join us March 16th at 7pm at for an Irish ceilidh, and a full evening of music, singing and dancing.


PROBIOTIC POTLUCK Start your fermenting now! On Wednesday, March 20th, we'll have the first-ever "Probiotic Potluck"alongside our weekly supper at 5:30pm. Experience the joy of sharing flavors, recipes, and stories with your community. Bring your appetite and your favorite fermented creation to exchange with fellow enthusiasts. Free & open to all.


MENDING CIRCLE Third Sundays 3-5pm Bummed out by the holes in your favorite jeans? Wondering what to do with all those moth-eaten sweaters? Whether you’re a newbie or visible mending expert, come join a crew of experts at the Civic for a fun few hours of connecting with friends old and new while applying these age-old skills. Just bring your clothes in need of fixing, and we’ll supply the materials, instruction, and snacks!
